Escaping rose
Do you ever happen to come across little glimpses of paradise as you walk through the city? It happens to me often, and every time it's a little bit of magic.
Today, the magic had the delicate scent and powdery pink color of these splendid roses. They were there, almost shyly, making their way through the bars of a railing, an unexpected touch of color in a perhaps slightly more austere setting.
And looking at them, with their delicate petals reaching out almost timidly beyond the gray metal, I had the impression of witnessing a small escape. Almost as if nature, with its gentle strength, was trying to break free from a somewhat rigid context, giving us a moment of pure poetry.

A flower escaping… the city |
The soft sunlight gently caressed them, enhancing their color that fades from rosy white to peach, creating a delicate yet powerful contrast with the gray of the railing. It's a bit of a metaphor for so many small daily battles, where beauty and delicacy manage to make their way even where you least expect it.
Those little “escapes” of beauty that life unexpectedly gives us, right around the corner, made me think about how, even in an urban context that might be frenetic and a bit anonymous, nature always finds a way to express itself, to give us a touch of color and fragrance.
And you know what I say? While I was looking at this delicate rose making its way through the iron, a piece of music came to mind. Do you know that sweet and slightly playful melody that makes you want to smile at the little things? That's right, “La valse d'Amélie” by Yann Tiersen. Perhaps because that music, just like this flower, has its own unexpected magic.
Just think, the director of “Amélie” (riginal title “Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain”) initially wanted another composer, but when he heard Tiersen's music, it was love at first sight! And it's no wonder, because that waltz - even if technically it's not exactly a classic waltz - gets into you with its simplicity and takes you to a somewhat dreamy world, just like Amélie's Parisian adventures.
It's incredible how such a simple melody can evoke so many emotions, right? A bit like this rose that, with its delicate petals, manages to capture our attention in the midst of the grayness.
And even today, years later, that music is unmistakable, a bit like a symbol of beauty and magic that hides in the folds of everyday life. It seems that it even made a lot of people want to get lost in the streets of Montmartre! In short, just like this little rose that “escapes” the rigidity of the railing, Tiersen's music also has its own freedom, its own ability to surprise and give us a moment of lightness.
I hope you feel like listening to it while you think back to that little “escape” of beauty that you discovered today!
And you, what is the unexpected corner that surprised you with its poetry?
